These settlers had a modest dairy herd, grew wheat to make into bran and flour, and produced hay for their own use, and to be sold to nearby lumber camps for horse feed, and for shipment to farms out of the state. After both passing away in the early 1950s, one of their children moved onto the property for several years. In the last years, several plots have been tilled for hay production. Other areas (between cultivated areas) have been left undisturbed and small trees, shrubs and native grasses mingle with wildflowers and play an important role in providing habitat for game, birds, bees, and butterflies.
